Auf Entdeckungsreise im Wildrosenmoos - Westallgäuer Wasserweg 11

From the hiking parking lot in Hinterschweinhöf, the trail initially leads to Vorderschweinhöf with great views. From there, a steeper section of the trail leads up to the spring area and onwards over wooden planks to the romantic Wildrosenmoos. Here, the large bog pile invites you to rest. Moor birches and mountain pines are reflected in the water of the abandoned peat pond.

The Wildrosenmoos is a border-crossing natural area between Oberreute and Sulzberg. It is surrounded by species-rich wet meadows, well-tended fens, quiet bogs and sparse raised bog areas, which provide good living conditions for many rare animals and plants.

As the plants in these habitats are very sensitive to trampling, the path must not be left. A small hut on the edge of the path is a reminder of the days of peat extraction: it displays some of the equipment that was once used to extract peat. Through the forest back to the parking lot.
