Three Valleys Trail

The approximately 7-kilometer hike starts at the St. Lucia Church in Eicherscheid, built in 1933. The picturesque village is surrounded by centuries-old field hedges and has a lot of charm inside as well. Half-timbered houses protected as historical monuments hide behind high house protection hedges from the sharp Eifel wind, small chapels and wayside crosses shape the village center.
You leave the idyllic Eifel village in a western direction and dive directly into the impressive field hedge landscape that characterizes the village's surroundings.
Soon you reach the Holzbach stream, the first flowing water, and follow the lively mountain stream until it flows into the Belgenbach. From here, the path follows the valley in a southern direction and you wander through a beautiful untouched mixed forest area that has been placed under nature protection due to the presence of numerous rare animal and plant species. You pass by the Belgenbacher Mill, which is considered the oldest grain milling complex in the Monschau region.
Further along, you come across the Alsdorf Miner's Cross, which commemorates the mining accident that occurred on October 29, 1930.
Then, heading north, you follow the Drosselbach and the babbling of the stream guides you back to Eicherscheid. Shortly before reaching the village, the trees clear and you can once again take in the beauty of the field hedge landscape before the path leads you back to the starting point.
