Goldsteig N 05 Letzau – Leuchtenberg

Today's stage begins with a small climb and mostly runs along the edge of the forest to the Dreifaltigkeitsberg near Muglhof with its chapel of the same name and on to the village of Oedenthal, which can already be seen from a distance. Before Roggenstein, a massive copper beech with a field cross is impressive. The trail now descends into the Luhe valley to the Oberschleif, a former glass loop. And then the hiker reaches the legendary "Elm" forest area with the "Three Hand Crosses" - striking boundary crosses that are mentioned as early as 1361 as a boundary marker for the Landgraviate of Leuchtenberg. Natural paths lead further into one of the most remarkable forest areas: Mystical names such as Mördergrube (murder pit) and Sargmühle (coffin mill) stimulate the imagination. The Goldsteig continues through the striking Wolfslohklamm nature reserve in the Lerautal valley to the Wolfslohfelsen rock, over a small bridge, past the "Teufelsbutterfass" rock formation to the market town of Leuchtenberg with its imposing Landgrafenburg castle.
