Altlohberghütte - Lohberger Steindl

Very beautiful panoramic tour to the "Lohberger Steindl" viewing rock - with a fantastic view over the Lamer Winkel. The starting point is the small village of Altlohberghütte. It is easily accessible by public transport. If you prefer to drive, there is a spacious parking lot for hikers in Altlohberghütte. The route is initially marked "Lo8". The path climbs steeply and initially in an almost straight line. After approx. 850 m, we reach a forest road, which we follow for only a short distance, approx. 200 m, to the left. After this short breather, we cross northwards into the slope, continuing to follow the "Lo8" markings. Suddenly, not quite 400 meters from the forest road, we stand in front of an imposing, overhanging rock face. The lower part is covered in yellow sulphur lichen. The path continues upwards along the massif, where a small path leads up to the rocky head of the Lohberger Steindl. The view across the mountain range from the Eck to the Großer Arber and into the valley of the Lamer Winkel is fantastic. This marked hiking trail is a destination trail, i.e. we take the same route back to the starting point.
