Rundwanderweg Zandt - Birnbrunn - Zandt

The 15.2 km circular trail begins in the center of Zandt. Here the "signpost tree" with the marker Za1 points the way to the kindergarten in the direction of Harrling. There you turn right, and approx. 200m further on left to the sports field and through the so-called "Steinerne Gässchen" to the hamlet of Bierwinkl. Continue on the municipal road to the Frauenholz wasteland. From here you have a view of the entire Upper Palatinate Forest. After the wood, turn right towards Kühberg. Here you have a wonderful view of the mountain range of the Bavarian Forest, from the Bohemian Čerchov via Hohenbogen, Kaitersberg to the Großer Arber, Rachel and Lusen, but also to the mountains of the St. Englmar ski resort. Now the trail leads downhill - past a lovingly renovated Waldlerhaus - to Dietersdorf. Follow the main road for a short distance and then turn right at the entrance to the village, following the signposts. Uphill through woods and meadows to Löwengrub. A hiking signpost shows you the way further along a paddock. At the highest point, there is a stone bench to rest on and an information board with information about the Bavarian Forest. Following the narrow path along the fallow deer enclosure on the left, past the hamlet of Oed, you reach a forest path to the main road. Here the path leads along the edge of the forest to Birnbrunn. At Gasthof Kienberger, you can fortify yourself for the rest of the way with a hearty snack. On the further route via Nasting, the Hochholz chapel with a healing spring is located on the left-hand side in a forest meadow, which you should definitely visit. After the small village of Nasting, turn left onto a forest and meadow path with beautiful views via Kagerhof to Kühberg. In Harrling, you can fortify yourself again with a snack (cold food only) at the Fleischmann inn/butcher's shop. You should also take a look inside the beautiful baroque church before returning to Zandt via Riesel.
