Please note: Shortened circular route (13 km) due to construction work in 2022 - see further description!!! One of the most charming hikes in the Rötz area begins at the Hillstett hiking parking lot. We cross the picturesque river valley with its dark forests that reach right up to the banks of the Schwarzach. Over the Schwarzach bridge at the Alte Wutzschleife, where we can observe the strong current and rapids of the Schwarzach, we reach the north side of the Eixendorf reservoir. Here the hiker experiences magnificent views, beautiful landscapes of rugged rocks reaching down to the water and flower-filled meadows. After the village of Eixendorf, we shorten the actual 15 km circular route by 2 km over the Eixendorf bridge (see Rz02 shortcut lake trail), as the long loop around the northern part of the Eixendorf reservoir is not passable in 2022 due to construction work. The route now partly follows the Schwarzachtal cycle path back south towards Gütenland. On the south side of the lake, the hiking trail runs along a wonderful cycle and hiking path on the former railroad line towards Hillstett. Along the way, you will not only find beautiful nature, but also the Salzfriedlhof, a recommended restaurant with a view of the lake, and the Upper Palatinate Museum of Crafts with its various buildings.
