If we start and end the circular route at Luitpoldplatz, it measures 9 km including the feeder route to Christusbruderschaft. The pure circular route has a length of 5 km. When hiking this route, it is advisable to start the hike in Dörnthal due to the limited parking options at the Christusbruderschaft.
We start the hike at the parking lot at Selbitz (Reußenbrücke) and walk past the town hall and train station over the railroad bridge along the old B 173 towards Hof. Before the end of the town, we follow the signposted access road uphill to the left to the extensive grounds of the Christusbruderschaft. The path continues uphill past the CVJM forest home. Soon after, we come to the actual circular route.
We turn right and continue straight ahead along the well-maintained, wide farm track up the flat slope to Dörnthal. The path climbs only moderately and offers a very beautiful view back to the Döbraberg and its wide surroundings in the upper section. We follow the Bockpfeiferweg markings into the village, go straight ahead, turn left before the inn and walk along the Brotzeit path to the composting plant.
The Selbitz district of Dörnthal was founded in 1789 by Hans von Dobeneck and was manorial grazing land for the 350 sheep of the Dörnthal and Rothenbürg manors. Until the beginning of the19.
We soon pass farms and mighty ash and oak trees on the way up, where we can once again enjoy the view from the Fichtelgebirge to the Döbraberg, Neuhaus with the castle hidden by the trees in the small park, Rodesgrün and the surrounding countryside.
We initially continue straight ahead on the high trail in a northerly direction, then take the path to the composting plant. We walk past the plant together with the OS 33 snack trail next to the B 173, but soon leave the accompanying path and then turn left into the forest. We continue along a pleasant path near the Föhrigbach stream through a forest with a view of the open, beautiful valley of the Föhrigbach stream in the high forest near the valley, with the two ponds at the bottom in view. After some time, at the end of the pond, we take the pleasant path in the forest diagonally uphill to the heights. There we reach the point where our circular walk comes full circle. If we want to walk back to the center of Selbitz, we have to take the path we already know back to the parking lot at the Reußenbrücke bridge near the town hall.
