Etappe 4, Ostschleife, Heilige Landschaft Pfaffenwinkel - Von Penzberg-Promberg nach Benediktb...

Author's tip: If you don't have that much time, you can hike directly to Penzberg and on to Iffeldorf on an alternative route (stage four in a hurry). Benediktbeuern is also easily accessible by train from Penzberg. A detailed description of the alternative can be found here.

Way description: We start the fourth stage in Promberg heading south and pass the hamlet of Oberhof. Shortly after the hamlet, there is a wayside chapel with an impressive painting on the right-hand side of the path. After marveling at the work of art, the trail leads us to Nantesbuch, where the yellow tower of the Maria Himmelfahrt church rises majestically. Finally, we come to Glashütte, where we have to decide whether we want to continue left along the Way of St. James towards Benediktbeuern or right towards Penzberg (see stage four variant in a hurry). If we walk towards Benediktbeuern, we come to a state road where we turn right and immediately follow the signs for the Way of St. James. After a few meters, we take the picturesque hiking trail that leads us directly along the Loisach. At the state road 2063, we leave the riverside path and continue south. We pass Bichl and leave the village on the meadow path, which leads us to Benediktbeuern. We reach our destination, the monastery complex of the Salesians of Don Bosco in Benediktbeuern, on Bahnhofstrasse. A well-known monastery that invites you to take a long break with a variety of sights.
