Etappe 3, Ostschleife, Heilige Landschaft Pfaffenwinkel - Von Bernried nach Penzberg-Promberg

Author's tip: If you walk the entire long-distance hiking trail, you can plan to spend the night at the Hoisl-Bräu country hotel in Promberg or hike even further to Penzberg (approx. 5 km to the northern edge of the town).

Way description:

We start the third stage of the long-distance hiking trail in Bernried at the monastery. We leave the monastery complex in a southerly direction, past a meadow labyrinth and walk through the English landscape park with numerous old trees, including a whole series of so-called Methuselah trees, which invite you to discover and linger again and again. We walk along the western shore of Lake Starnberg via Seeseiten to Seeshaupt. We walk to the church of St. Michael, which rises above the village near the lake, and then leave the lakeside promenade path on St. Heinricher Straße. Before reaching the village, we turn right and enter the extensive forests of the Pfaffenwinkel. Here we can take our bearings from the Marzenbach stream and the transmission mast on the highway bridge. In Faistenberg, the path branches off to the right again and comes to a small chapel on the right-hand side of the path. We cross the Kohlfilz area and come to Promberg.
