Description by the author

We want to start our hiking trail at the hiking parking lot at the Raiffeisenbank in Marlesreuth with the legend "The shot through painting" (panel 1). We then walk up the main road to the church square (panel 2). Here we are told about the "Church building in Marlesreuth". Once we have climbed the stairs up to the church (panel 3), we can still see the remains of the mound to the right of it. Here you can read the legend of the "ghost of the lord of the castle". Now we walk left down the steep Kirchberg to Johann-Thomas-Munzert-Straße. After approx. 100 m, we reach the road "Am Wallhügel", which we walk up to the end of Marlesreuth.

After crossing the main road, we walk left past a farm to the forest. From here, you have a beautiful panoramic view that stretches from the Döbraberg over the Fichtelgebirge to the Bavarian Vogtland. Now we follow the forest path, which leads straight through the forest after a slight bend to the right and then to the left. At the end of the forest, we come to a crossroads onto which we turn sharp right. We follow this path to Nestelreuth (signpost 4). Here we are told the legends of "The old castle in Nestelreuth" and "The White Lady".

We leave the hamlet on the road and hike to below Molkenbrunn. We cross the state road and follow it to the right for about 50 m until we reach a field barn. The path leads between the barn and a house, directly towards a large ash tree. There we find the plaque with the legend of the "magic book" (plaque 5). We then take the left-hand field path through meadows and fields towards the forest, cross it and at its end turn right across a meadow to the Garlesbach stream. After crossing the stream (panel 6), we find the first part of the legend "The Ring of Destiny". A narrow path leads half right up to the Garleshaus, where you can read the second part of the legend.

Continue along the path until you reach the back of the single Garles (panel 7). We soon come to a wide forest path on which we continue to the right. After approx. 500 m, we reach the "Garlesfelsen" viewpoint from where we have a wonderful view (rest area) of Naila. Here we find the legend "Das Zwergenloch bei Marlesreuth" (panel 8).

We continue along the forest path and after approx. 700 m we turn right onto a field path. This leads us to the end of the forest, where you can enjoy a beautiful view of Marlesreuth. The path now runs to the left, always along the edge of the forest, until we walk straight ahead in the open towards the "Kapfigten Stein" (plate 9). There are many legends surrounding this rock, all of which can be found on a plaque next to the stone. We walk along the field path directly towards Marlesreuth, the starting point of our hike.
