The beautiful valley landscape of the Fischbachgrund is always the "focal point" of this circular hiking trail with its lovely views of a beautiful, varied landscape. The source area of the stream, which flows into the Rodach near Vogtendorf after a short course, is located near Wötzelsdorf.
We hike in the lower part of Fischbach in Martin-Luther-Straße past the cemetery on a paved farm track up to the height of Obere Allern and enjoy the impressive panoramic view there. There we meet the main hiking trail "Fränkische Linie", which we follow to the right uphill to the forest. Looking back, we can see a "picture-book landscape", the Fischbach valley, Kronach and the picturesque surrounding countryside.
In the forest, we still have to climb uphill, first on the forest path, then on a pleasant path. At the top, we continue along the upper slope on a beautiful path, the Weinbergweg, with occasional views of the Fischbach valley. As we leave the forest, there is an equally beautiful view of Fischbach and the valley floor. We now follow the farm track downhill to the road. If you like, you can end the short circular route here by following the road downhill back to Fischbach.
However, we cross the road and immediately turn right again on a path into the forest, where we soon have an impressive view (from left) of Wötzelsdorf, Horlachen, Staibra, Fischbach and the Fischbach valley. We continue along the easy path to an open plateau, where we come across a field path that soon takes us downhill again to Wötzelsdorf, 394 m above sea level.
In 1325, the settlement was mentioned in the Bamberg Urbar as belonging to the Steinach district. The Lords of Waldenfels, von Guttenberg and von Reitzenstein were the landlords. The village was plundered by the French in 1806.
Follow the village road briefly to the left until you reach a bridge over the Fischbach. There we turn sharp right and walk along the young Fischbach stream out of the village. We then continue on a path along the banks of the stream, past two small, old bridges and through a narrow alluvial forest to the district of Tauschendorf. There we turn left and walk past the sports center and then continue on a path to the former castle and church of Fischbach.
We can divide this circular route into two smaller circular routes (about 4 km each, see above) if we follow the road from Fischbach to Seibelsdorf briefly uphill.
