Description by the author

Listening to silence - Where does the gentle buzzing of the forest bees come from? Where is the deer standing that made the branch crack softly? Listen to the sound of silence, enjoy the peace and quiet! Hiking in the Franconian Forest is a contrast to the sensory overload. New worlds of sound open up to the ear - and natural silence drowns out everyday life!

The sound of water will accompany you on your hike "Im Stübengraben", as the names of the stations suggest! You start in Weißenbrunn, cross the Leßbach, in Stübengraben the natural path demands a courageous step over the Stübenbächlein, past the Hetzenbrunnen you reach Fischbach and follow the water of the same name on a natural path through its charming valley. The sound of your steps mingles with the gentle murmur and gurgle of the water: Firm footsteps up the cobbled hill, the paving of which with stone slabs was already attributed to Napoleon, but only took place in 1884. Soft and always slightly different steps on coniferous forest paths, over moss, on leafy ground and on meadows at the edge of the forest. You will only rarely come across roads, and your path is mostly dominated by relaxing solitude. Unless, of course, you are in Weißenbrunn on one of the special public holidays, when Franconian beer instead of water flows from the stone breasts of the mermaid at the Jungfer-Kättl fountain. The silence is over on these days, but you shouldn't miss out on enjoying the beer and a visit to the nearby brewery and brewery museum!

DESCRIPTION

At the end of Weißenbrunn in the direction of Kronach, we leave the B 85 before the Raiffeisenbank and turn right towards the building yard. Together with the two long-distance hiking trails Frankenweg and Burgenweg, we cross the Leßbach stream and hike quite steeply uphill to the edge of the forest and over the cobbled hill in the forest. We reach the Weißenbrunner Spinne on the old connecting road to nearby Kronach.

At the crossroads, we leave the Pflasterberg diagonally to the left and follow a natural, very pleasant path that climbs steadily up to the Kaltbucher Knock. There we meet up with the Frankenweg and the Burgenweg again. Shortly before the Fernsehumsetzer, we use the two main hiking trails for a detour (500 m easy) to the Lucas Cranach Tower.

From the tower, we hike back along the same path until shortly after the television tower. There, we turn half-right into the forest along the two main hiking trails and walk slightly downhill on a natural, pleasant forest path through a mostly young mixed forest until we later come to a road through older trees and continue downhill to the right to Weißenbrunner Spinne.

We turn half-left in the forest downhill towards Stübental until we cross the Stübenbächlein stream straight ahead in a narrow valley bottom to the right. We walk a few meters with the stream to the left and then take the forest path uphill to the right until we come out into the open before the hamlet of Dobrach. There is a beautiful view of the Rodach Valley and the surrounding Franconian Forest heights.

We first walk past Dobrach and the hamlet of Hinterstöcken on a cul-de-sac. We then walk for a long time on a pleasant path with beautiful views of the Fischbach valley and its surrounding settlements and wooded heights until we reach the hamlet of "Am Gemeindewald" on the local road, which we cross straight ahead. In the forest, we turn left onto a narrow path, which soon leads us out of the forest and along a meadow path to the outskirts of Fischbach. Passing the new development area, we reach the sports field, where we keep right and turn right again after the bridge. Continuing along the stream, we reach Tauschendorf in the valley of the young Fischbach. In the charming valley floor of the Fischbach, we follow the markings of the Fischbachgrund path (blue 8) up the banks of the stream to Wötzelsdorf. We walk from the center in Schulstraße to the end of the village and then uphill on a pleasant meadow path lined with trees and bushes through the meadows (view!) and then briefly through the forest interspersed with deciduous trees to the road. We cross the road and walk to the right along the edge of the forest and past a large meadow slightly downhill to the forest.

We walk through the forest on natural, almost flat paths, enjoying occasional views, until we reach the crossroads at the "Baum". We follow the markings on a washed-out path to the left downhill in the forest until we reach a forest road. It leads us only briefly to the right. Then our hiking trail leaves the forest road again to the left and continues downhill along natural paths and tracks. Once we have reached the former sand pit, it is not far to the start of the sand road, which takes us back to the Jungfer-Kättl fountain and the church in Weißenbrunn.
