Rund um den Hohen Trauchberg

Fit? You need strong calves for the tour through the wooded foothills. Saddle fit? From Forsthaus Unternogg, head south along the Halbammer valley. From the Hubertus Chapel, the forest path climbs steeply up to the Mardersteighütte. Here you have to push a short distance over the stream footbridge and along a forest path (signpost "Trauchgau"). Ride steeply downhill again on a forest path, then leisurely via the Geometer hut to the Wasserscheid hut. Descend into the Halblechtal valley and through the narrow stream valley to Halblech and from here on to Trauchgau. In Trauchgau, follow the signs for "Almstube". The route climbs steeply once again before the tour leads back downhill along a forest path to Königstraße (signposted "Königssträßle"). King Ludwig used to ride along this road in his carriage. You return to Unternogg over a few small humps, but otherwise quite comfortably. 40 kilometers - the same loop again?
