Frankenwald-Radltour 6. Etappe Bad Steben - Marktleugast

Daily stage from Bad Steben to Marktleugast-Hermes 

Route: Bad Steben – Hölle– Marxgrün – Naila – Selbitz – Volkmannsgrün – Helmbrechts – Wüstenselbitz – Ahornis – Hohenberg – Tannenwirtshaus – Marktleugast – Marienweiher – Steinbach – Gundlitz – Cottenau – Marktleugast-Hermes (Ü), 55 km.

Details of the route:
Starting point of the route description: Bad Steben, Steinbacher Straße opposite the Bad Steben thermal baths.

Follow Steinbacher Straße towards the village, which later becomes Engelmannstraße, then Peunthstraße and Schützenstraße until you reach Bad Steben station. From there, follow the HO3 cycle path, initially on Höller Straße e and you will reach the small village of Hölle, the entrance to the Höllental (wild and romantic valley with rock formations, Teufelssteg, Hirschsprung).

From Hölle, follow the Selbitztal cycle path (HO 2). The route leads as follows: Marxgrün – Naila (local museum with escape balloon of former GDR citizens who used a hot air balloon to escape to the West).

Continue on the Selbitztal cycle path (HO 2) to Selbitz (detour to the town center, market square).

Continue on the Selbitztal cycle path (HO 2) via Weidesgrün, Schauenstein (Upper Franconian Fire Brigade Museum in Schauenstein Castle), Volkmannsgrün to Helmbrechts (Upper Franconian Textile Museum).

After crossing the town, follow the Selbitztal cycle path (HO 2) via Unterweißenbach to Wüstenselbitz. From Wüstenselbitz, the HO 5 cycle path takes you via Ahornis, Ziegenrück to Obersauerhof.
From there, the KU 4 cycle path takes you to Hohenberg, Neuensorg, Traindorf, Tannenwirtshaus.

From Tannenwirtshaus, also take the KU 4 to Marktleugast and then the KU 4 to Marienweiher (Marienweiher Basilica). Then continue to Steinbach and Gundlitz.

From Gundlitz, take the KU 2 to Cottenau. From Cottenau, cycle along the cycle path via Einöde, Schmölz and Dörnhof to your stage destination Landgasthof Haueis in Hermes.
