Frankenwald-Radltour 4. Etappe Steinbach a.Wald - Steinwiesen

Daily stage from Steinbach a. Wald to Steinwiesen 
 
Route: Steinbach a. Wald – Lehesten – Grumbach – Rodacherbrunn – Nordhalben – Ködeltalsperre – Steinwiesen (Ü), 40 km.

Details of the route: From accommodation (Marion Herrmann, An der Wasserscheide 8) return to the Rennsteigstraüe. Drive left out of town. Here the Rennsteig initially joins the autostrasse. Follow the route until you reach the traffic circle.

Continue in the direction of Lehesten until you reach the town hall in Lehesten. Places of interest: Thüringischer Schieferpark Lehesten.

Turn sharp right into Obere Marktstraße. Follow this road, then branch off into Neustadtstraße, then a little later into Röttersdorfer Straße and then into Brennersgrüner Straße.

The route continues via Brennersgrün, Grumbach to Rodacherbrunn.

In Rodacherbrunn, turn right towards Nordhalben.

Once in Nordhalben, first follow Lobensteiner Straße (at the Amlichstraße junction, there is an opportunity to visit the Klöppelschule and the International Spitzensammlung). Otherwise, follow Lobensteiner Straße, which later turns into Kronacher Straße after a sharp right-hand bend. Cross the village of Nordhalben. Shortly after the end of Nordhalben, leave the road and turn right. The path leads into the forest and downhill for a long time to the Ködeltalsperre dam.

Cross the dam of the Ködeltalsperre (Bavaria's largest drinking water dam) and cycle on the other side of the dam on a flat but winding route to the main dam. Cross the main dam and immediately afterwards take the road downhill into the Rodach valley.

Once there, keep right at the beer garden towards Steinwiesen. Follow the cycle path to Steinwiesen and then through the entire village until you reach the Aparthotel Frankenwald, Mühlwiesen 1-3, at the southern end of the village. Places of interest in Steinwiesen: Home museum, Teichmühle (waterwheel cutting mill)
