During the Spanish Civil War, a trench war was fought east of Zaragoza. There was severe shortage of ammunition and there was a lot of shouting to each other rather than shooting. Writer Geert Mak tells in his book 'Europe' that the two sites tried to outdo one another with shouting the name of the food and dishes that they were supposed to receive.
