The Arab baths are located in a Romanesque building built in the twelfth century, very close to the Cathedral, and right where the archaeological walk begins. The current name comes from its architecture, which imitates the Arab baths, although they are Romanesque in style. It was completed in 1194, and was in use until the fourteenth century, when it was closed.
Originally, located right next to one of the main entrance roads to the city, they were designed so that travelers could recover before entering the city to do business.
In 1617 a convent of Capuchin nuns was installed, which was used until 1929, when it passed into public ownership, rehabilitated and open to the public.
The bathrooms have a rectangular floor plan, and are distributed in several rooms. The Apodyterium (dressing room), the Frigidariu (cold room), Trepidariu (warm room), and a Caldarium (hot room). There is also a Furnus (oven and boiler), but the most emblematic leleemtn is the octagonal pool with eight columns, which we find in the center of the dressing room, and which allows natural light to enter.
