Barcelona City History Museum (Catalan: Museu d’Història de Barcelona, Spanish: Museo de Historia de Barcelona, acronym MUHBA) is a city museum that conserves, researches, communicates and exhibits historical heritage of the city of Barcelona, from its origins until present days. It depends on the Barcelona municipality. Its headquarter is located on Plaça del Rei, in the Barcelona Gothic Quarter (Barri Gòtic), and it counts with several historic sites spread all around the city. Most of them are archaeological sites displaying remains of the ancient roman city, called Barcino (in latin). Other refer to medieval times (the Jewish quarter, the medieval royal palace, called Palau Reial Major) and the rest cover the contemporary city, including old industrial buildings and sites related to Gaudí and the Spanish Civil War. It was inaugurated on 1943, April the 14th. Its principal promoter and first director was the historian Agustí Duran i Sanpere.
