MOVED BRICK BY BRICK

The current location of the Pazo da Paxariña (16th century) is not the original one. It was moved brick by brick from San Pedro de Porto to here, its new location in the area of the Lamastredo river, in front of the mouth of the Grande river, after being purchased by Evaristo Mouzo, Supreme Court Justice, and owner of the Pazo de Mouzo (18th century). In Dor you can still see the chapel and dovecote of this unusual –in terms of its architecture– feudal Galician house. The chapel's lintel has an inscription with the name of Martín Pereira and the year 1693, referring possibly to the date of construction of the whole architectural ensemble.
The building has a square floor plan, a hip roof with four faces –instead of the usual two– and two floors. One of the side facades has a chimney, the most noticeable aspect of the building. The main facade, facing the sea, has a staircase with a stone-carved balustrade going up to the top floor, where you can see the coat of of arms.
The first floor houses a cellar, some bedrooms and a small living room. At the top is the kitchen with a large fireplace and other rooms. It is in good repair and nowadays is used as a beautiful rural tourism house.
