FISHERMEN'S GUILD OF CAIÓN

The Fishermen's Guild of Caión was created in the 20s to bring together sailors from the town and work, from the organisation, in the development of the fishing activity.
Since the early 40's, it has had its headquarters in this emblematic building, where on its basement it stores its historical archive and disseminateds it to the public through the modern Fishing Archive.
The fishermen's association has been crucial in the history of the town bringing economic growth to a whaling town (16th and 17th centuries) and converting it in the 60's, into one of the most important towns in Costa da Morte.
If you walk along the port, you will see many traditional fishing boats, whose activity is mainly focused on catching octopus and goose barnacles. The crustacean is pulled out of the rocks which are in the open sea between Punta Alba and Pedra do Sal, so that the local seafood is one of the most prestigious in Galicia.
