The bell tower of Zahara de la Sierra dates back to the 16th century.
It is the only remnant of the old hermitage of San Juan de Letrán with a square floor plan and rounded corners. In ancient times it was used as a clock tower . The tower's name dates back to the turn of the century, when a clock was installed that was used by all the neighbors to keep them informed of the time, to have references in working days and church activities. It was restored in the 1990s and the clock worked until the beginning of the 21st century.
