Sala Compañía is a multipurpose room in Jerez de la Frontera (Andalusia, Spain), built in 2003 as a multipurpose room in an old building that was originally the church of the former residence of the Society of Jesus.
As a multifunctional cultural space , activities such as opera, theatre, concerts, cinema, conferences, music, dance, exhibitions, book presentations, etc. take place there.
In 1574 the residence of the Society of Jesus was founded in Jerez, in the inner-city district of San Marcos. Within the complex, the Jesuit Church was built in Baroque style with a facade of relief columns and tiles. The altarpiece is the work of Diego Roldán.
The composition of the facade is as follows:
Right: Tile of Saint Francis Xaveri , Apostle of India
left: tile of Ignatius of Loyola writing the Book of Exercises.
in the center: the Sagrada Família venerated by the Jesuits, in the semicircle above the main entrance.
In 1931 he fell victim to the monastery fire.
After decades of neglect after the Jesuits left the church, it was restored and inaugurated in 2003.
