The Plaza Flor del Olivo was built on the site of the old San Antonio oil mill , the chimney of which has been left in the center, as a monument to Cordoba's first industrial expansion.
The Fábrica de Aceite y Almacenes San Antonio contained an oil depot - with underground oil presses with a capacity of 10,200 arrobas - a cooperage, a wood depot, a flour and grain depot, an oil mill and general storerooms. For this purpose, the family business, which had started its activities in Cordoba in 1866, bought a total of 16,420 square meters of land from Manuel García Lovera in 1901 for the price of 11,000 pesetas, which would be expanded years later by another 2,800 meters, bought from the company Electricidad de Casillas.
The chimney is like a triumphal column without an archangel , watching over the neat six-story buildings that have risen on either side.
