The Fountains of the Pigeons , also known by the lesser known name Glorieta de las Palomas , are located in the Plaza de América (formerly Huerto de Mariana), a concentration point and place where countless pigeons live and constantly fly overhead, creating the Parque de María Luisa was nicknamed "Parque de las Palomas" (Pigeon Park) .
Near the entrance to the park from Paseo de las Delicias are the two fountains known as "de las Palomas", originally three pairs of which only the pair we can see now remains and which were restored in 1993. The lack of surveillance of the area was enough to cause the loss of the remaining four, as well as the beheading of one of the surviving figures.
The fountains were built and placed here in 1964.
