The Torre Sevilla, also known as Torre Cajasol or Torre Pelli until 2015, is a skyscraper and office building in the Spanish city of Seville.
With a height of 178 meters, the tower is the tallest building in Seville and Andalusia.
The tower was designed by Argentinian-American architect Cesar Pelli. It is a long, cylindrical building, erected on the Guadalquivir River in the Triana district, where the 1992 World Exhibition took place. The construction started in 2008 and ended in 2015. Originally, the tower was built for the Spanish bank Cajasol, which would make it their main building. This was abandoned after Cajasol was taken over by the Catalan bank La Caixa.
The construction of the tower caused problems with UNESCO in 2012 . After all, the height of the building would disrupt the view from the old city center. As a result, UNESCO threatened to place the city's protected world heritage (the Cathedral of Seville, the Royal Palace of Seville and the Archivo General de Indias) on the list of endangered heritage.
