Famous liberal philosopher and economist John Stuart Mill is burried alongside his great love and wife, Harriet Taylor Mill in the cemetery of St. Veran. When his great love died and was burried here, he rented an appartment in the neighbourhood to have a view on her grave.
Only five people came to his burial when he died here in 1873.
There is also a plaque ''En hommage à John Stuart Mill Défenseur des Femmes'', added by a refuge for women victims of violence in Paris. John Stuart Mill is known for his fight for women''s rights and for his book "Subjection of Women".
John Stuart Mill was the godfather of mathematician and philosopher Bertrand Russell.
