Massive, the Porte de Soissons is located southwest of the medieval city, and was built in the early thirteenth century during the resumption of the fortifications. Formerly named Soibert or Porte St Martin, its rear part (demolished in 1895) offers us a cross-sectional view of this type of defensive system: vaulted room upstairs, giving access to the handling of the portcullis but also to the machicolation. Not to be missed, this strange leaning tower nearby, called Dame Eve perhaps in tribute to this person who had participated financially in the repair of the ramparts.
