Glacières de Versailles are two peculiar buildings used to store ice during summer in the past. The icewas taken from the Grand Canal. Their function was a fridge to keep food fresh. But hte ice was also used for medical purposes such as to bring down the body temperature during fever. They were constructed during the period of Louis XIII and Louis XIV.
