The Cognacq-Jay couple, founders of the department store La Samaritaine and great art lovers, bequeathed their entire collection to the City of Paris in 1928. It is now in a beautiful 16th-century mansion - the Hôtel Donon - that visitors can discover an exceptional collection of 18th-century works. Paintings by Boucher and Fragonard stand alongside drawings by Watteau, sculptures, stamped furniture and precious objects (jewellery, snuff boxes, Saxony porcelain, etc.). The museum also offers temporary exhibitions.
