A first plank chapel, topped by a tiny bell tower, was built in 1860 on the Têtote, a small rocky hill, at the entrance to the hamlet by Jean-Nicolas Aiguier, the owner of the place, with the help of a few local people. It is to ward off fate that he created this small place of recollection and prayer. The valley of the charcoal burners was then very populated, but the population of the hamlet was far from the church of Saint Maurice. So Nicolas Aiguier thought of establishing a place of recollection and prayer where mass could sometimes be heard. From the outset, the chapel was placed under the double patronage of St Nicolas, patron saint of Lorraine, and the Virgin, Our Lady of Consolation. This is why we can still see, but unfortunately hidden by large plaster statues, 3 other small wooden statues somewhat mutilated by time: St Nicholas raising 3 fingers above the miraculous vat, with alas, his broken stick, St Joseph and the Virgin Mary. The chapel of St Nicolas - Our Lady of Consolation was blessed by Curé Claudel on December 6, 1861, the feast day of the patron saint of Lorraine. On Sundays and feast days, Mass was regularly celebrated there. After the war of 1939-1945 and for several decades, the Feast of the Coalmen was created on 15 August, the feast of the Virgin Mary. On this day, a mass was celebrated in the chapel, which was too small, and outside. In 1987, the chapel was renovated thanks to several local associations and a financial contribution from the owners of the land.
