The existence of a modest chapel in the village rebuilt after the Thirty Years' War is attested as early as 1733 on the very site of the present church.
In the 19th century, the strong growth of the population and the desire to be able to have all religious practices on site, encouraged the municipality to provide the village with a place of worship worthy of the name.
The work was decided in 1868, at the same time that Forbach was completing the church of St Remi as we know it today.
