The large thermal gallery of Vittel was built in 3 stages during the years 1897, 1901 and 1905 in the Parc de Vittel. This building in metal structure created the link between the thermal constructions, their annexes and the park. It became the emblem of the resort. In 1930, the entire steel structure was clad in stucco and the pillars coated with concrete, following the trend of the time.
This gallery, listed as a Historic Monument, is undergoing a complete rehabilitation.
The first stage of renovation, located between the "Vigie de l'Eau" and the Source Hépar pavilion, was restored in the "Eiffel" style in 2015. The original metal structures were stripped of the concrete gangue they had been covered with in the 1930s. The orientalist inspired murals have also been reconstructed and the roof covered with 38,000 zinc tiles. The gallery has thus regained all its original charm.
The second phase of renovation, completed in 2016, from the Hépar pavilion to the entrance to the Vittel Spa, showcases Art Deco.
The last stage of the project will continue until the restoration of the Pavillon de la Grande Source built in the 1930s by the architect Auguste Bluysen and Jean Prouvé.
Once completed, the Vittel thermal gallery will offer visitors a wonderful panorama of 50 years of art and architecture.
An EXHIBITION on this emblematic monument of Vittel is in free access under the Thermal Gallery. It retraces the history of its creation and its evolution.
Free access every day of the year.
