In 1830, the Dutch painter Ary Scheffer moved into this charming house in the New Athens district. The house remained in the family of the portrait painter until its transformation into the Museum of Romantic Life in 1983. The ground floor contains numerous objects, furniture and jewellery that belonged to George Sand, the great icon of the Romantic movement. On the first floor, the paintings of the painter Ary Scheffer are displayed alongside those of his contemporaries. And in the small garden stands a beautiful glass roof, under which a tea room is installed.
