La Motte Tilly offers visitors the opportunity to discover an elegant castle fully furnished in the taste of the 18th century and a historical park of 62 hectares classified and labeled "Remarkable Garden". Built in 1754 for Abbé Terray, general controller of Louis XV's finances, the castle was restored in 1910 by the count of Rohan Chabot. His daughter, the Marquise de Maillé, tastefully reconstitutes the furnishings and interior decoration which allow them to rediscover the art of living in the 18th century. Set for Milos Forman's film, Valmont, inspired by Choderlos de Laclos' work, Dangerous Liaisons, La Motte-Tilly is an exceptional place for the whole family. Open: From April 15 to October 14: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday to Sunday. Closed Mondays From October 15 to April 14: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday to Sunday. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays Closed January 1 and December 25 Ticket office closes 30 minutes before the castle closes. NEW: The Beau Rivage La Rosita restaurant offers a tasty homemade picnic basket with products from the cocagne garden of Château de la Motte Tilly and other local producers. No title, no blah in the basket, let yourself be guided by Chef Lionel Seret's market.
