Mussy-sur-Seine, 8 centuries of history!
A beautiful medieval village on the borders of Champagne and Burgundy, Mussy-sur-Seine is rich in evidence of its past.
Formerly known as Mussy l?évêque, having been the summer residence of the Lords of Langres, this town of character will surprise you with its imposing Collegiate Church, a must-see on your visit.
You'll also be surprised by the abundance of picturesque little streets, each steeper than the last, and by many other remarkable sites such as the Grenier à sel, the Tour du boulevard and the Glacière.
A few centuries later, the Resistance left its mark on Mussy?s history, its woods hosting a large maquis following General de Gaulle?s call to arms. A museum in the village center and a war memorial perpetuate the memory of the maquisards.
Initially created in 1967 by members of the Mussy-Grancey F.F.I. maquis, also known as the Montcalm maquis, the Mussy-sur-Seine Resistance Museum has reopened its doors after 3 years of renovation?
The museum?s theme has now been extended to include the Occupation of the Département during the Second World War and the careers of the Resistance fighters from the Auvergne.
For nature-lovers, a signposted hiking trail in the footsteps of the Resistance fighters is available from the Mussy Tourist Office and can be downloaded from our website.
Don't leave the village without tasting our local gastronomic pride: "Délice de Mussy", a cow's milk cheese.
The Tourist Office is located inside the Musée de la Résistance de l'Aube.
Open from Saturday April 6 to November 3, 2024.
