Just beside the Somme, the white limestone walls of the abbey are reflected on the water. The abbey was founded by Gérard De Picquigny, vidame d'Amiens and was completed in 1139. The revolution marked the end of the Cistercian era for the abbey (1137 - 1790). The church was also demolished and the property was sold. It was occupied by Trappist monks from 1815 to 1845. Other orders occupied the abbey until 2001. The abbey was sold to a private developer. Now, the abbey has become a rented dwelling. The buildings have been protected as Historic Monuments since 1969.
