This building is characteristic of the rural habitat of the Entre-deux-Mers. The 17th century mill, whose remains include a monumental chimney, was restored and enlarged over the following centuries. It is in this building that Marie Brizard (1714-1801) is said to have been born. Her father, Pierre Brizard, was a cooper in the Ste Croix district of Bordeaux and owned a vineyard in the Entre-deux-Mers region as well as a distillery. Marie would have launched at the court of Versailles the liqueur known under her name. In 1755, she founded with J. Baptiste Roger the company Marie Brizard et Roger .
