The little chapel Notre-Dame-des-Bois is one of the hidden treasures of the Pays de Bitche. Situated next to the Erbsenweiher pond, the altar of this sandstone chapel is decorated with a stone tabernacle containing an iron chest, a crucifix and four candelabra. After the last war, the roof of the religious building was damaged, the pews, candlesticks, objects of worship and the statue of Our Lady had disappeared. The walls inside were covered with inscriptions: the soldiers of the Maginot Line had engraved their names on them. The chapel had even been used to shelter their horses. During the renovation in 1974, a new statue of the Virgin was blessed and the small bell found and repaired.
