Between Brantôme and Bourdeilles, the Dronne has confronted the limestone rocks, sometimes hard, sometimes soft, and has carved a bed lined with cliffs hidden in the forest and agricultural plains. One will go up the current by stopping punctually on the developed areas which will make it possible to seek the species related to water such as the dipper, or the rupestrian species such as the peregrine falcon which nests there. A detour can be made through the plains around Valeuil, especially in winter to look for the common raven, a rare species in Aquitaine. This is also the season when you can look for the tichodrome échelette, a regular guest of the old stones at the Bourdeilles castle.
