Stone tomb with a stone pediment showing the bust of Aguste Renoir and a medallion of Pierre Renoir (son) and a medallion of Jean Renoir (2nd son).
Renoir settled in Cagnes-sur-Mer (where he died) and the fourth period was known as the Cagnoise period. During this period he also worked as a sculptor with his friend, the young Catalan sculptor Richard Guino. It was Guino who made the bronze ornaments on the tombs of the Renoir family, starting with that of the painter.
Aline, Renoir's wife , died on June 27, 1915 in Nice in their flat. She was buried in the cemetery of the Château in Nice , in a crypt loaned by the Roumieux family. The old painter also died in Cagnes on December 3, 1919. He joined his wife in the same crypt in the cemetery of the Château de Nice.
Two and a half years later, on June 7, 1922, the remains of the Renoir couple were transferred to the cemetery in Essoyes , Aline's native village.
