Formerly Saint-Etienne des Soubirous, Saint-Barthélémy is one of the 10 parish churches that Cahors had in the Middle Ages.
The large building, in the southern Gothic style, is flanked by an imposing bell tower-porch with three superimposed rows of bays in the form of a baisé arch.
Jacques Duèze was baptized here in 1244. Once he became Pope, he undertook its reconstruction.
The church contains monumental medieval paintings, an interesting series of paintings from the 17th to the 19th century, as well as a pulpit from 1663, the work of the master carpenter Bertrand Rouzières from Cadur.
