Aurélie Esparta - Maroquinerie

I create models of bags and small leather goods, timeless creations with simple shapes, customizable according to everyone's taste. It is "old-fashioned", without a sewing machine, but armed with linen thread and two needles that I pierce the leather with an awl to make the saddle stitch in order to ensure the solidity of my creations. It is often not easy to start a creation as one can read on the skin the living conditions of the animal through its small imperfections, which reminds me that I must work this living material with respect: "Just enhance it and above all do not spoil it". I conceive my work in the most responsible way possible by privileging the choice of my leathers in the surplus of leather goods houses and by privileging vegetable tanning, the use of water-based glue, linen thread.
