At the gates of the Sologne, in the middle of woods and ponds, Jouy-le-Potier has preserved, in the heart of the village, many old half-timbered houses (such as the Maison de l'Ecureuil) or brick houses (such as the Maison de la Fontaine) and, in the surrounding countryside, farms, smallholdings as well as châteaux. The castle of Le Lude is particularly remarkable with its elegant Renaissance facades of brick and stone reflected in the waters of the Cosson, and its small chapel Sainte-Corneille hidden in the park.
The oldest parts of the church of Saint-Pierre date back to the 12th century. Its beautiful Romanesque portal survived the destruction of the Huguenots in 1562, while the rest of the church was raised from its ruins in the 17th century.
