Description

Although there are few traces of the internment camp, which was completely dismantled after the liberation between 1954 and 1960, Rue du Souvenir still houses the "Kommandantur" building of the camp built in 1943. Today private property, a plaque on the façade recalls the history that was written there
A memorial stele was erected on the site of the former "Schirmeck-Vorbrück" security camp in 2019. Unique in the concentration camp system, the Schirmeck-Vorbrück camp was intended to re-educate those who resisted by terrorizing, repressing or even disappearing..
Also to be seen: the gate of the former town hall, now the Schirmeck media library, the original gate of the camp, the Memory to History trail.
