Montigny les Vaucouleurs, here water is everywhere !!! What calls out is this magnificent wash-house entirely restored built in 1826 by the architect Lerouge and the contractor Maurice Roussel de Gondrecourt le Château.
This wash-house, typical of our area, is fed by the Rû Nicole. The "égayoir" or "gayoir", located at the back of the washhouse, used to allow horses to be bathed after working in the fields. The level of the washing basins can be regulated by winnowing or draining it to facilitate cleaning operations.
