Semide, a village of 200 inhabitants, lies 11km south-east of Vouziers, 30km from Rethel, and 55km from Charleville.Located at the bottom of a valley below the Champagne limestone plateau, the village, which takes its name from the stream that rises there (Sem-Ide), is well worth a visit. It has a rich record of achievements as a village in bloom: from the first flower in 1988 to the 4th flower obtained in 2001. This national label, renewed every three years since then (the only one in the Ardennes until 2017), was renewed in July 2018. The new signs at the entrances to Semide incorporate the concept of "quality of life", while strolling through the village streets, you can visit the church of St. Peter and St. Paul (11th-12th and 19th centuries) with its contemporary stained glass window (2002).Outside the village, the site of the German cannon from the Great War (listed as a historic monument), the protected natural area of "dry lawn" with its rare flora (a wide variety of orchids) and fauna, the hamlet of Orfeuil (5km to the south) with its national necropolis and the German cemetery from the 14/18 war are also worth a visit.Further information.
