Bergues Town Hall

In 1871, this building was rebuilt by OUTTERS, the Renaissance part of the construction being kept intact and transferred stone by stone from its original site in the rue de l'Hotel de Ville.

The date of 1665 as it is on the facade is therefore correct . The building dates from the time of Philip IV of Spain whose coat of arms with the Golden Fleece is on the facade.

With its facade in blue stone from Zinnik and grey stone from Marquise, its columns, pillars and obelisks, the town hall is special, but it still closely resembles similar buildings on the other side of the current border (Veurne, Tournai, Ghent).

On the right of the facade is the bust of Lamartine , who was elected representative of Sint-Winoksbergen in 1833. In addition to the city's administrative services , the town hall also houses two rooms (the 'Salon Blanc' and the 'Salon Doré') and the archives.
