Kirre short Heuvellandroute

This route is 93 km long and is a shortened version of the popular Kirre Heuvellandroute (and the ultra-heavy Kirre Heuvelland Plus). The departure (and also the finish) is immediately in the Heuvelland (and not in Ypres), more precisely on the Lettenberg (= the northern flank of the Kemmelberg), which makes the journey much shorter. Some tracks are no longer on the program compared to the longer versions: they are the Sulferberg, the Scherpeberg and the Kokereel. But what's still worth it and gives a total of 1374 altimeters (this is according to Routeyou, but various measurements with Strava invariably indicate more than 1400 altimeters.) These climbs are successively: 2x Kemmelberg (the two cobbled slopes), the Monteberg, the Schomminkel, the Vidaigneberg, the Boeschepe, the Wouwenberg (Mont des Récollets), 2x Kasselberg (the west side and the particularly steep south side), the Katsberg and the Zwarteberg. The trail then passes over the ridge that connects the Zwarteberg, the Vidaigneberg and the Rodeberg. Here the steep detour via the Baneberg is conquered 'En passant'. Finally, there is still a climb for the finish on the Lettenberg.

In addition to the fact that the route is extremely suitable for training climbing legs, it also has a particularly car-free course, with almost exclusively narrow rural roads. Those who are not 'blocked' can still enjoy the calm and beautiful landscapes. The route consists entirely of paved roads (and bike paths). You don't drive a metre on concrete roads! In short: with the exception of the two cobbled tracks and the Kassel market, the driving comfort is excellent.
