The Barga aqueduct is an all-stone structure with a series of beautiful arcades. It had a very important, if not essential function: water supply to the wells in the center of the city. The first fountain of this pipeline was built in 1501 and was able to transport water from the source of Rupina to the castle of Barga.
Today you can see it up close by taking a walk in the Fratelli Kennedy Park, located in the moat where the old medieval village once stood. All around it is also very impressive to see the many small villas that have been built and which give a sense of unity between antiquity and modernity.
