San Sebastiano in Vallepiatta is an old church next to the piazzetta della Selva in Siena. She is in the Contrada della Selva.
Construction of the church began in 1492 and was completed in 1656, under the patronage of the weavers' guild (Tessitori). The interior is painted by 16th century painters, depicting the Dream of St. Irene by Stefano Volpi, a Glory of St. Sebastian and a Virtue and Angels by Sebastiano Folli, a Stories of St. Sebastian by Pietro Sorri and Rutilio manetti. On the main altar there is an image of Christ by Luigi Ademollo, and a 15th century crucifix, which, according to legend, was given by Saint Bernard himself to the Compagnia di San Giovanni Battista della Morte (Compagny of Saint John the Baptist of Death ) was donated.
It is built in the shape of a Greek cross and has a dome with a cylindrical drum. The design is attributed to Francesco di Giorgio Martini. Only a strip of a cornice with architrave in travertine marble remains of the brick facade, which was added in 1545-1550. The interior was painted in the 16th century by Giovanni Paolo Pisani, Raffaello Vanni and Astolfo Petrazzi. The main altarpiece is a stucco and terracotta bas-relief depicting the venerated Madonna della Selva, attributed to Francesco di Giorgio Martini.
